Strong Earthquake Felt in Northwestern Syria

Magnitude 6.3 earthquake strikes near Karatas, Turkey.  A very strong earthquake has been reported in northwestern Syria, causing widespread damage and panic in the affected areas. According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake had a magnitude of 5.5 and occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.
