Tragedy struck at a Hobby Lobby distribution center in central Oklahoma on Wednesday when an employee shot and killed a 69-year-old manager during a disagreement. The victim was identified as Douglas Smith, and the suspect is 32-year-old Domonique Thompson, another employee at the center.
Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday following reports of a shooting at the facility near S.W. 44th and Council Rd. When police arrived, they found Smith had been fatally shot.
The Oklahoma City Police Department is investigating the incident and trying to determine what led to the altercation between Thompson and Smith. A statement released by Hobby Lobby expressed condolences to the victim’s family and promised cooperation with authorities in the investigation.
