7 Texas colleges and universities received hoax calls about an active shooter on Thursday morning. The calls were made to the University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, the University of Houston, Texas State University, the University of North Texas, Texas Tech University, and the University of Texas at San Antonio.
The calls were quickly determined to be a hoax and the campuses were not placed on lockdown. Local law enforcement is currently investigating the source of the calls and the motive behind them.
The calls caused panic and fear among students and staff, who were already on edge due to the recent mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton. Many students were left feeling shaken and uncertain about their safety.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of being aware of one’s surroundings and reporting any suspicious activity to the authorities. It also highlights the need for increased security measures on college campuses.
